Chateau Villerouge-Termenez

This fortified town was the site of the capture and burning of the last know Cathar Parfait in Languedoc in 1231.  Guillaume Belibaste had managed to escape from Carcassonne in 1309, he managed to lead others to at least temporary freedom in Catalonia, but returned to the people of the Languedoc, working as a shepherd and feigning marriage to avoid capture.

Eventually, in 1321 he was captured by the Holy Inquisition and burnt at the stake.

There is a small castle with a museum commemorating his life and also the village is of some interest to walk around.
