This is quite a
small site surround by vineyards accessed along farm tracks in Aude
department.

It was one of the
'Five Sons of Carcassonne' along with Queribus, Termes, Peyrepertuse and
Puilaurens.

Reinforced after
the Albigensian crusade to protect the border with Spain, it lost
importance after the Treaty of the Pyrenees moved the border further
south in 1659.
