Chateau Saissac

This fine castle in the Black Mountains dates back to about 960 when it was given to the Count of Carcasonne by the Bishop of Toulouse.

In 1209 the Lords of Saissac capitulated to the crusaders.

The castle fell into disuse in the 18th century and is currently maintained the local authority.
